Overview

Entabeni Safari Conservancy, rightfully dubbed “The Place of the Mountain”, is situated in the World Heritage Waterberg Biosphere. Approximately a three-hour drive north of Johannesburg, this 22 000 hectare malaria-free reserve boasts five eco-systems. A gravel road leads up to this Big 5 reserve, complemented by three different lodges. Each lodge comprises a unique blend of luxury and African wilderness, perfectly set in different immaculate locations of the reserve. The upper escarpment offers majestic craggy rock formations and wide-open grass plains. This is separated from the lower plateau by 600m high cliffs. The lower escarpment is approximately three degrees warmer and comprises of “sandveld” vegetation and a series of wetlands. It is a place where the lion still reigns as king and Mother Nature still mesmerizes with her power and beauty. Your modern African adventure starts here!

Kingfisher Lodge (upper escarpment)

Set on the banks of Lake Entabeni, this intimate, exclusive lodge entices guests outdoors onto its wooden decks. As the most luxurious of all the upper escarpment lodges, the ambience is inviting in the main lounge and dining area, with stylish décor and specially designed furniture. The cosy fireplace ensures a luxurious and relaxed atmosphere. The honeymoon suite features an exquisite four poster bed and a Jacuzzi bath with breath-taking views of the lake. The tranquillity of the lake and distant bush is nature at its undisturbed best.

Lakeside Lodge (upper escarpment)
Set on the banks of the 1.7km lake, this thatch and stone lodge provides a memorable blend of luxury and wilderness with the awe-inspiring Entabeni Mountain as a backdrop. The bedrooms are linked by thatched walkways to the reception, restaurant, conference room and boma. Spacious double/twin rooms are complemented by sundowners on your own private deck with the ever-changing colours of the Entabeni Mountain reflecting in the lake. The hippos at Lake Entabeni are a site to behold and the viewing deck provides the perfect setting for spectacular views over the lake. Total number of rooms: 24
Ravineside Lodge (upper escarpment)
Located under the shadow of Entabeni Mountain, this thatched wooden lodge is built on stilts and hugs the cliff's edge, offering magnificent views of unspoilt ravines and wooded hillsides. The lodge offers double/twin chalets, leading onto open sundecks where guests can indulge in bird and game watching and experience the grandeur of the ravine whilst listening to the rippling sound of the water from below the valley. The bedrooms all have an African ethnic theme and a number of stairs to climb. Total number of rooms: 22

Facilities

Each lodge has its own restaurant and boma.
The lodge offers a selection of venues ranging from the luxurious dining room to the deck, boma, garden or pool. Private dinners on your own deck or in the room in front of the fireplace can also be arranged. A romantic meal for two can also be organized on the bottom deck close to the lake. Various bush-braai and picnic venues are available for added excitement.
Meals are served in the restaurant, boma, garden, Springbok Bar, or lower deck, all boasting a breath-taking view of Lake Entabeni and the Entabeni Mountain. Outside venues are also available for that special “meal in the bush” experience (weather permitting).
The lodge offer meals in the dining room and bar area, both equipped with fireplaces, or outside in the boma. The boma is situated in the shade of a 100 year old Fig tree amongst the beautiful gardens and various outside venues. Ravineside offers a selection of menus ranging from buffet to individually tailored menus for bush-braais and picnics.

A world of romance awaits the bridal couple at the spectacular and unique settings. A traditional African bush wedding with enchanting venues, sumptuous menus and a hands-on wedding coordinator will ensure that you have that legendary wedding that guests will remember for years to come. Entabeni Safari Concervancy provides conferencing with a difference in the middle of the wild African bush. The lodges also offer a variety of team building activities from approved suppliers.

Game Drives

The wildlife experience at Entabeni is impressive with more than 55 mammal species, 300 plants species, 380 bird species,  as well as a wide variety of insects, reptiles and amphibians all co-existing in five spectacular diverse eco-systems. Encounter the supreme wildlife of Africa with qualified rangers in our open safari game viewing vehicles. PLEASE NOTE: Children under 6 years are not permitted on game vehicles.

Bush Walks

Various guided Bush Walk options are available. The Predator Walks are undertaken by our qualified rangers in the Entabeni Safari Conservancy, whilst Non-Predator Walks take place within Legend Golf & Safari Resort’s botany area, where our trained rangers will show you a variety of animals and birds.

Stargazing

The star studded bushveld skies are magnificent and truly a must-see. Stargazing can be done in the Astro Boma where guests can either be guided by one of our qualified rangers or alternatively a professional astronomer can be hired at a nominal fee. A minimum of 20 people is required per session.

Mobile Spa

A variety of massages or beauty treatments  can be done in guests’ rooms. Relax and unwind in the heart of the bushveld.

Horseback Safaris

Choose between the one or two hour horse-riding packages that include a sumptuous picnic lunch. The more adventurous at heart can try out the 8 day package where you stay 2 nights at one of the Entabeni Lodges before heading out to a luxurious Fly Camp for 4 nights.

Directions to Entabeni Safari Conservancy

Road Directions to Lower Escarpment - Hanglip Mountain Lodge & Wildside Safari Camp:

Take the N1 North Highway from Pretoria to Polokwane (Pietersburg). Keep on the N1 through the Carousel and Kranskop Tollgates. Travel a further 32km on the N1. Take the Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) R101A off ramp/exit (Route 289). Drive 8km to Mookgopong (Naboomspruit). Drive straight through the town of Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) on the R101A (29km) until you reach the Doorndraai/Sterkrivier turnoff (Entabeni sign). Turn left and continue for 22km until you reach the Haakdoring turnoff. Turn left and continue for a further 10km on a gravel road until you reach the large ENTABENI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE sign on your right-hand side and the security entrance gate.

Road Directions to Upper Escarpment – Ravineside, Lakeside & Kingfisher Lodge:

ake the N1 North Highway from Pretoria to Polokwane (Pietersburg). Keep on the N1 through the Carousel and Kranskop Tollgates. Travel a further 32 km on the N1. Take the Mookgopong (Naboomspruit) R101A off ramp/exit (Route 289). Drive 8 km to Mookgopong. Turn left at the second traffic light in town centre (R520) into Nelson Mandela Road. Continue on the R520 for 11 km until you reach a T-junction. Turn left and continue for 500 m and turn right at the Marken sign. Keep on the tar road for 24 km. The road becomes a gravel road. Continue on this road for another 21.5 km. You’ll see an ENTABENI sign on the right-hand side. Turn right and drive 3.3 km on a dirt road until you reach the security entrance gate.
