The legendary BCX Supersport Shootout was hosted at Legend Golf & Safari Resort for the third and final consecutive year – and it may just have been the best yet.
An annual invitational event where top government officials, high profile corporate executives and legendary South African sportsmen compete against one another in two teams namely Team BCX or Team Supersport , in addition to the traditional individual and better-ball nett competitions. Not only is this tournament known for the spirit and comradery experienced between the participants but also the incredible amount of funds raised annually for charity. This year nearly two million Rand was raised for LIV Village and our very own NPO, the Legend African Foundation.
The official arrival of all of the tournament players took place on
Friday 5 May where they were welcomed at Queen of Sheba with incredible
gifts from sponsors, massages and a taste of what the weekend might
hold.
The day’s events were followed by a spectacular evening beneath the
stars at the Starlight Boma’s welcome dinner. Friendly banter, well
timed jokes and a general feeling of getting the gang back together
filled the rafters as regulars of the tournament welcomed new comers
into the fold.
Victor Matfield, Mark Williams and newcomer to the tournament, Cameron van der Burgh were some of the many familiar faces who stepped onto the wide, green and wild fairways of the Signature Course on Saturday morning and as you can expect, competition was in the air. After a long day on the course the men dressed up and proceeded to Queen of Sheba where an amazing evening awaited with great food, wonderful conversation and incredible entertainment.
It was with great excitement, that after two years of defeat, Supersport walked away victorious, Danie Visser won the individual event and Calvin Hunt & Selwyn Nathan the better-ball competition.
All in all it was a tournament that will be remembered for many years to come and it would of course not have been possible without the legendary team at Legend Golf & Safari Resort.
